The weather has seemingly settled down and the deer are into the rut. With the season ending apx. mid December I have done some research on possible areas to try. They will be day hunts because of my schedule. I have flipped a few arrows and seem to be in tune.I have pulled out the winter clothes and sorted thru the gear I will need. I will for the most part do a stalk and sit hunt. So will tend to layer so I can remain warm while sitting for long periods.Below is some of the gear which is contained in my small guide's pack. I intend to remain within 2-21/2 miles of my vehicle, so the list is short.
First aid kit
Emj. shelter
Fire starter
Hi energy snacks
2 sharp knives
Flash light
Parachute cord
Game bags
Scent cover
Smoke bottle
Surgeons gloves
Rags
Roll of hi-viz traffic tape
GPS
Binoculars
Range finder
Cell phone
File a flight plan as such for the family, so they know where I will be.
Since I would be hunting alone I will need to quarter and debone a deer so that I can pack it out, should I be lucky enough to fill my tag. Stay tuned. The good or the bad will follow.
